We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect and how

We only collect information that is reasonably necessary to respond to you and run our business. This includes:

  • Contact details: Name, email, phone, business name, job title. We collect this when you complete our enquiry form, book a call, or email or message us.

  • Enquiry details: Information about your business and what you need help with. We collect this through the enquiry form, emails, calls and meetings.

  • Booking details: Your preferred meeting time and any notes you add. We collect this when you book a free 30 minute call through our online booking tool.

  • Social media and ad responses: Your name, public profile details, job title, company, and anything you include in comments, messages or lead forms. We collect this when you follow, message, comment on or engage with our LinkedIn, Instagram or Facebook pages, or submit a lead form inside one of our ads.

  • Website usage and advertising data: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, time on site, referring site, which ad you clicked. We collect this automatically through cookies, Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel.

  • Client engagement information: Names, roles and contact details of your team members, and feedback shared in interviews, workshops or surveys. We collect this when your business engages us and we work with your team.

  • Billing details: Billing contact, business address, ABN, quotes, invoices and payment records. We collect this when we quote, invoice and receive payment.

We do not collect or store credit card details. If you pay by card, the payment is handled by our payment provider.

Sometimes we receive information about you from other people, for example when someone refers you to us, when a business we work with gives us your details so we can involve you in a project, or from publicly available sources such as your LinkedIn profile or business website.

You can browse our website without telling us who you are, and you can ask to deal with us anonymously or using a pseudonym where that's practical. If you choose not to give us your contact details, we may not be able to respond to your enquiry or provide our services.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive information (such as health, racial or religious information). Please don't include it in an enquiry, message or survey response.

How we use your information

We use your personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiry and arrange calls or meetings

  • provide, quote for and invoice our consulting services

  • run discovery calls, audits, workshops and programs with you and your team

  • understand how people use our website so we can improve it

  • measure and improve our advertising on LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook, including showing our ads to people who have visited our site or engaged with our content

  • send you updates, resources or event invitations, if you have asked to receive them

  • ask for feedback or a testimonial (we only publish your name, words or business name with your permission)

  • meet our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations

We will not use your information for any other purpose without your consent, unless the law allows it. We do not sell your personal information.

We do not use automated decision-making that has a significant effect on you.

Marketing and staying in touch

If you contact us, we may follow up about your enquiry. We will only send you marketing emails or newsletters if you have agreed to receive them, or where the law otherwise allows, in line with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).

We don't currently send a newsletter. If we start one, you will only receive it if you choose to sign up, and we will keep a record of when and how you did. Email tools usually tell the sender whether an email was opened and which links were clicked, and we would use this only to improve our emails. We will update this policy to name the tool we use before we start.

Every marketing email we send will include an easy way to unsubscribe, and you can also email us to stop. We will remove you within five business days, and keep a record that you unsubscribed so you aren't added again by mistake.

We do not upload your email address or other contact details to LinkedIn, Meta or any other advertising platform to target you with ads unless you have agreed to this.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

Our website runs on Squarespace and uses cookies (small files stored in your browser) and similar tools:

  • Squarespace uses essential cookies to make the site work and to keep it secure.

  • Google Analytics helps us understand how visitors find and use our site. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

  • Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram) lets us measure how our Facebook and Instagram ads perform and show relevant ads to people who have visited our site. You can manage how Meta uses your information for ads in your Meta ad preferences.

These providers may collect information about your visit and combine it with other information they hold, under their own privacy policies. Where our site shows a cookie banner, you can choose which non-essential cookies to accept. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as well. For more on interest-based advertising, visit Your Online Choices.

Social media

When you interact with us on LinkedIn, Instagram or Facebook, those platforms collect and handle your information under their own privacy policies. We can see what you make public or share with us, such as your name, profile, comments and messages, and we use it to reply to you and manage our pages. The platforms also give us aggregated statistics, such as how many people saw a post and their general location or industry, which don't identify you.

If you submit a lead form inside one of our LinkedIn, Instagram or Facebook ads, the platform passes the details you enter (for example your name, email, company and job title) to us. We use them to respond to your request and, if you agreed, to send you relevant updates.

When we work with your team

Our programs involve working closely with your people, so we may collect information about your team members, such as their names, roles, contact details and their views on how communication and work flow in your business. We use this only to deliver the engagement.

Where we run interviews or surveys, we report themes back to leadership in a way that doesn't identify individuals, unless the person agrees otherwise. Confidentiality terms in your client agreement also apply. We ask that you let your team know their information will be shared with us for the project.

We may use secure software tools, including AI-assisted tools, to help organise notes and prepare deliverables. We limit the personal information we put into these tools and choose providers with appropriate security and privacy protections.

Who we share it with

We only share personal information when we need to, with:

  • service providers that help us run the business, such as our website host (Squarespace), booking and video call tools, email, cloud storage, analytics, advertising (Google, Meta and LinkedIn) and accounting providers

  • professional advisers, such as our accountant or lawyer

  • government bodies, such as the Australian Taxation Office, where the law requires it

  • anyone else you ask us to share it with, or agree to us sharing it with

Overseas storage

Some of our service providers, including Squarespace, Google, Meta and LinkedIn, store data outside Australia, mainly in the United States and Europe. We take reasonable steps to use providers with appropriate security and privacy protections.

Keeping your information secure

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. This includes password-protected accounts, two-factor authentication where available, and limiting access to people who need it. We delete or de-identify information when we no longer need it, unless the law requires us to keep it (for example, tax records for five years).

If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required.

Children

Our website and services are designed for businesses and are not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Accessing or correcting your information

You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you by emailing hello@loisbeale.com. There is no charge to ask. We will respond within 30 days, and we may need to confirm your identity first.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we have handled your information, please email hello@loisbeale.com. We will respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the OAIC on 1300 363 992.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we start using a new tool or advertising platform. The latest version will always be on our website, with the date it was last updated.
